Hello Everyone,
Firstly, I am very appreciative of the forum creators and moderators for setting up and managing this forum. Secondly, I want to thank all of you who donate your time and skills to provide advice and perspective to support those who are going through a difficult phase in their lives.
Unfortunately I am currently facing a challenging period in my career and I would be grateful for your feedback regarding my future career prospects.
MY DETAILS
Place of Birth: Kolkata, India
Date of Birth: January 13, 1966
Time of Birth: 1:03 AM
BACKGROUND FOR MY QUESTION
I am currently passing through a Saturn Mahadasha. Saturn is Rajayoga in my Rasi chart and in its own house. However it is fallen in my Navamsa.
In previous Saturn antardashas, (Rahu-Saturn; Jupiter-Saturn) Saturn always provided upliftment in my career. So I was expecting the Mahadasha to be similarly positive for my career. However, except for the initial 2 periods - Saturn-Saturn and Saturn-Mercury, the other periods - Saturn-Ketu, Saturn-Venus, Saturn-Sun and currently Saturn-Moon (from June 2018 - current) have not been beneficial for my career.
I left my last job in May 2018 but when my Saturn-Ketu period was beginning. I had achieved all I could at my job where I had been for 8 years and because of being in the Saturn Mahadasha, I was feeling confident that a new opportunity would arise soon. Unfortunately that has not been the case and I have been without a job since then (I did have a part time job from July 2020 - December 2021 during my Saturn-Venus period).
I have an MBA from a well-regarded university in the U.S. and my career track record is a good one. However, even though I have leveraged my network, recruiters and online job sites, I have been unable to find my next opportunity. Obviously I never expected to go 6 years without a job and this situation has created financial and marital stress.
I grew up in Mumbai until 18 y.o. and then lived in the U.S. from 1985 to 1998 at which point I moved to Toronto, Canada where I currently reside.
QUESTION: I would appreciate any input on my future career prospects including timing.
Please note that I am a first-time poster, so my apologies if I missed providing any information. I will provide further information as requested. Thank you in advance for your help.

Dear Sir
Welcome to the LOVA Forum!
I analyzed your chart and feel that Sat has many colors in your chart.
In D-1, it is Yogkaraka placed in 5H as 4/5L. But it is debilitated in D-9 and placed in 6H in D-10.
The present AD of Moon is also not very promising as Moon is in 8H of D-10.
But the PD lords will also give their results.
The next PD of Ven and Sun are placed good in your D-10.
So I expect good results related to career starting from Nov 2024.
God bless you
Neeraj

If you have the right knowledge, EXACT predictions can be made. Astrology is an incredible tool for guidance and one should take note of the energies of changing dasa lords.

Dear buddakan1,
Astrology can be easy to read but challenging to understand and master. In your chart, the 10th lord, Moon, is placed in the 12th house, forming Kemdrum Yoga, which is associated with foreign lands. Additionally, the aspect of Jupiter suggests that your job may require management skills.
In your D-9 chart, the 10th lord, Mars, is in a state of debilitation. Currently, you are under the influence of Saturn Dasha, which is positioned in the 5th house—this placement is 8th from your 10th house. Furthermore, the 8th lord, Venus, aspects the 10th house, indicating potential instability in your job.As per Bhavartha Ratnakara:
राज्यविक्रमपत्योश्च संबन्धो यदि विद्यते।
राज्येशदाये च योगस्सुयोगो विक्रमेश तुः॥ ४॥
This verse indicates that if the lords of the 3rd and 10th houses are in conjunction or aspect each other, the native may experience difficulties during the Dasa of the 10th lord, while enjoying more favorable results during the Dasa of the 3rd lord.
In your case, this explains your challenges in finding a suitable job during the Saturn-Moon Dasa. The Moon, aspected by the 3rd lord Jupiter, influences this dynamic.

Dear Dr. Neeraj,
Thank you so much for your warm welcome to the forum and for your thoughtful analysis of my chart.
Your insights have given me a deeper understanding of the challenges I am currently facing. I typically focus on the effects of the Mahadasha and Antardasha planets, so it was fascinating to learn how impactful the Pratyantar Dasha planets can be as well.
As a new student of Jyotish, I truly appreciate every opportunity to expand my knowledge. Thank you for contributing to my learning journey.
I look forward to the possibility of good results relating to my career starting in Nov. 2024 which is only a few weeks away. I will keep you updated of any progress.
Many thanks once again for your support!

Dear Sujit,
Thank you very much for your attention to my post. Here are the answers to your questions.
PROFESSION:
Through the years I have had different management roles across various industries. I started my career in management consulting and then moved to brand management in a consumer packaged goods company. I then worked in retail marketing, followed by a general management role in banking and then a Chief Operating Officer role in a sports hospitality restaurants company. Through these experiences I have developed functional capabilities in marketing, operations, P&L management, strategic planning, etc. I apologize if this is too much detail but I want to provide a complete answer to your question. An astrologer had once told me that I would change roles throughout my career because the lord of my 10th house (Moon) is placed in the 12th. I don't know if that is the reason, but I have had a few changes in my career.
EDUCATION:
I finished my high school in India (10 years + 2 years HSC in Science which was completed in 1984.
I then moved to the U.S. and completed my undergraduate Bachelors degree in Economics (1989)
I then worked for 3 years and then went back to get my MBA in Marketing. (1994)
PARENT'S LIFE/HEALTH
FATHER - grew up in a very poor family (displaced from East Bengal) in Kolkata. He completed his PhD from Germany in Chemical Engineering. He had a successful first half of his career but had a series of disappointments and lack of work assignments for the remainder of his career.
His health was fine and he passed away in June 2014 at the age of 85
MOTHER - grew up in a well-to-do family in Kolkata and Allahabad. Was the first woman in her family to develop her own career as a University Professor in Mumbai.
Her health has always been fragile due to a life long battle with asthma. In 2018 she was diagnosed with Lung Cancer which was operated on successfully. Her mental health remains strong even while her physical health deteriorates. She is currently 83 years old.
Please let me know if you require any further information.
I am grateful for your help.
Many thanks!

Dear ADC,
Thank you so much for your analysis and your thorough explanation of your analysis which is of immense benefit to a beginner student of Jyotish like me.
You are absolutely correct in deducting that due to Kemdrum Yoga my life is associated with foreign lands. I moved from India to the US when I was 19 and then to Canada when I was 32 and have lived there since then. Also, you are correct in stating that my various jobs through the years have required management skills. I have always worked in management roles and have tried to constantly enhance my management skills as my career has progressed.
As you have pointed out, my Mars is debilitated in my D-9 chart. I am still new to Jyotish so I was focused on the planetary placements in my Rasi chart (where my Mars is exalted) more than the D-9 chart, so it is a good lesson for me to learn that the D-9 placements are equally important. As per your wise words - Astrology can be easy to read but challenging to understand and master - a very true statement indeed!
Thank you for sharing the verse from Bhavartha Ratnakara. This offers a explanation for why I am experiencing challenges during the Saturn-Moon dasha.
QUESTION
Do you think that the challenges will subside at the end of the Saturn-Moon dasha? My Saturn-Mars dasha will begin in March 2025. Will this be more promising for career opportunities or will the challenges continue for the entire duration of the Saturn dasha?
I really appreciate your insight and support on these matters.
Many thanks!

Dear Dr. Neeraj, I responded to your post 3 weeks ago but my response was never posted. I appreciate your insight and I will keep you updated if there is any progress due to the PD Lords' influence next month. I usually view the dasha and antardasha but was not fully aware that the PD also has significant impact. Many thanks for this lesson.

Hi Sujit, I responded to your question a couple of weeks ago but my response was not posted. Trying again here:
Line of Profession - Have worked in management mainly in the consumer packaged goods and retail categories in the food and beverage sectors. Have also worked in banking for a number of years. My career has changed from time to time (Lord of 10th in 12th house)
Education: I have a Bachelors in Economics and an MBA from a top 10 US graduate business school.
Parent's Life/Health: Father was a chemical engineering consultant who passed in 2014. Mother was a University Literature professor for a 30 year career. Although fragile and a lung cancer survivor, she is mentally strong and able at 83.

Dear ADC, I sent in a response a couple weeks ago but it was not posted so I'm trying here again. Thank you for your detailed explanation and valuable insight.
You are absolutely correct in your readings of my career, which requires management skills, and my career brought me to foreign lands.
Thank you for your explanation of the impact of the lords of the 3rd and 10th houses - this certainly explains the challenges in finding a job during Saturn-Moon.
QUESTION: Do you see progress in finding a job after this period ends and Saturn-Mars begins in March 2025? While my Mars is debilitated in D-9, it is exalted in my Rasi chart.
Thank you for your support.

I have tried to send responses twice over the last few weeks to all those who have taken their time to help me by analyzing my chart. Unfortunately, those responses have not been posted. I am writing this TEST message as a response and using the "Post Reply" option to see if this works. If it does, I will follow with my responses. Thank you.
Hi,
On the sidelines, Sun/Ravi is a Badha-Karaka for the birth-chart. He has low Shadbala. So, recognitions and opportunities for elevated positions would be limited. Further, Rahu-Ketu and Jupiter/Guru-dev have below par Vimsopaka Bala in Dasha Varga... making me wonder if the native's life has really been a walk in the park. In my humble opinion, he has had frequent change in jobs/roles/positions. Ketu co-lords the 2nd house of Wealth Accumulation and is placed there. But then, his weakness along with presence of low-profile miscreants Maandi & Gulika (not to mention unfavorable aspects) seem to indicate limited wealth.
Now, looking for something bigger and better a month away from being 60 years of age may be a bit difficult. Being flexible, humble and open to all/any reasonable positions could make things a bit easy. And, I'm inclined to think there are good and favorable time just around the corner... if truly driven and desiring to work.
Sincerely...
As called out by the senior and respected member in the quoted (see above) post, Saturn/Shani-dev (which is generally true with most grahas/planets, in various divisional charts) has indeed multiple shades and shows-up differently in Rashi or D-1, Navamsa or D-9, Dasamsa or D-10... and so on, indicating his inclinations for various aspects of your life. Further, Saturn/Shani-dev is posited in the Lunar Constellation of Purva-Bhadrapada Nakshatra, ruled by Jupiter/Guru-dev (ruling 3rd and 6th houses and placed in the 8th house), who is not really a benefic for the birth-chart.Dr Neeraj wrote: 05 Oct 2024 I analyzed your chart and feel that Sat has many colors in your chart.

Dear Sishya,
Thank you very much for taking time to analyze my chart. I am grateful for your response.
I have listed my comments and questions below.
- Thanks to your and Dr. Neeraj's assessments, I now have a better understanding of the complexity of the role that Saturn plays in my chart. It is very helpful indeed to understand the nuances that you have outlined regarding the "multiple shades" that Saturn imparts to my chart. My previous readings were devoid of the "many colours" (as per Dr. Neeraj) , and mostly focused on the Rajayoga nature of Saturn and how it would be a great positive for me. This obviously led to my disappointment at the lack of positive results over the last few years.
- You mention that Jupiter is not really a benefic for my chart. Is that because it is placed in the 8th house, retrograde and with Rahu?
- I was not aware that my Sun is a Badha Karaka for my chart. Thank you for informing me of this. It is also accurate that opportunities for recognition and elevated positions have been limited in my career.
- You are absolutely correct that I have had frequent change of jobs/roles/positions/industries.
- Once again you are correct in surmising that my life has not been a walk in the park. However, I am mindful of the fact that there are a lot of people who have had a much more challenging life journey than I have. I try to be grateful for whatever has come my way. Also, in my humble opinion, the areas of my life that have been the most challenging - mother, leaving my home country, wife, stepchildren, constant change of jobs - have also provided me with the greatest learning for which I am appreciative (a little beat down but appreciative nevertheless..)
- You are also accurate that Ketu's impact on my 2nd house has created limited wealth. However my wife has been very focused on saving what little comes our way so we have slowly built a moderate nest egg to support our future.
- I very much appreciate the advice you have imparted in your last paragraph. Recruiters and my professional network repeatedly advised me that being close to 60 is going to severely limit any opportunities. With this in mind, I am staying open to all options. I also feel that the time off has given me the opportunity to recuperate from any past career pressures and I feel refreshed and driven, and looking to work hard at my next opportunity.
- While most of your reading has provided rationale for my current challenges, I am greatly energized by your last statement that there may be a good and favourable time around the corner. I will stay positive and ensure I am mindful and appreciative of any opportunity that may come my way.
Finally I would like to say that your humble approach to my reading and your carefully worded advice carries significant weight with me. I was taught early that it is not always WHAT you say but HOW you say it. I am very fortunate to have you take the time to review my chart, state your findings and gently offer advice on the appropriate next steps. I will begin each day reminding myself to be "Flexible, Humble and Open" to all opportunities and ensure that I am "truly driven and desiring to work" if any opportunity does present itself.
Many thanks for your gracious offering and please be assured that I will immediately inform you if any positive changes arrive soon.
