Rectifying links (URLs) in older posts

Hi,

I started off as a newbie in his forum, a few weeks back. Given that the forum is a treasure trove of information, a learner is keen to drill down to details. But then, I've often found myself frustrated with links posted by senior/older members not taking me to the right destination. Instead, it would take me the home page. In other words the links seemed to be broken. It made me wonder what went wrong - was it the link or was it some setting issue etc. Unfortunately, this has not been detailed in the FAQ page either. Hence this initiative to help other newbies like myself.

While trying to find my way, I stumbled across a post (see below) by a senior member/Admin... stating
"This is happening because the forum was initially on a different board & when we moved here, the references did not carry over correctly and completely. I suggest that you replace the "3.0" with "3.1" in the url manually and see if it helps get to the right url."

Below is what I have discovered...
Suppose you are viewing a thread called "Do conjunctions mean the same in D9, as in D1?". The link or URL for that thread is viewtopic.php?f=6&t=29873
within in the thread a link to another thread is shared in a post http://www.lightonvedicastrology.com/ph... 9&p=117465

All one needs to do is replace the UiD of the viewing thread with the UiD of the other thread. For the example above, replacing the number 29873 with 117465 (at the very end of the link) will help (while in the viewing mode). For instance, while in viewtopic.php?f=6&t=29873, change UiD in the link to
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=117465 will do the trick.

you come across
http://www.lightonvedicastrology.com/ph ... 9&p=117465
then, replace 6&t=29873 with 9&p=117465, at the end of the URL
https://www.lightonvedicastrology.com/p ... 9&p=117465
