Jagannatha Hora Different Dasha Sequence

Post by ssm123 » 04 Jul 2019

Namaste,

I recently replaced my old computer and installed version 8.0 of J. Hora on the new computer. I noticed that the dasha sequence is different by about 3 months compared to what I was getting on the old computer. The Moon's degrees are less by about half a degree. I don't recall what version of JHora or what ephemeris was on the old PC. The degrees of the Lagna however are the same.

I am using default settings. The ayanamsha is Lahiri/Chitrapaksha.

I request someone to please advise me if version 8.0 default settings are the right ones to use.

Thanks
ssm

hello ssm123,

the default settings are the ones recommended by the author of the software.
The default setting could use " pushya paksha ayanamsa ". You may use your
choice of ayanamsa. Try different ayanamsas to see if the 3 months difference
disappears. That could be the ayanamsa you used earlier. Go through all the menu
options to understand the software.

Thank you for your response vedicmath.

It turns out that the difference is due to the setting of Topocentric or Geocentric calculation of planet positions.

Since I am not an expert astrologer, I am looking for opinions of experienced astrologers on the correct setting for this. So It would be great to get your opinion on this.

hello ssm123,

The riddle of ayanamsa cannot be resolved easily, in fact never. So many other factors
do have important roles.

The best you can do is to choose what people follow generally, and be at it for atleast 15
years. I do not stick to one, but mostly follow what the owner of the software recommends,
especially the mathematical part. Astrology is a ocean and we are limited by the small
data available for study.
