Dear experts
For astrology purpose, is birth time taken when baby's head is out or when it's whole body is out of its mother? And should we wait till umbilical cord is cut?

Well I'm asking this question since it's good to keep an eye on when the baby's head comes out or its whole body so as to avoid any miscalculations in the birth time...BTR is fine but we can avoid it by being more precise as long as it's normal delivery...I'm sure BTR also has some risks for errors...
Usually the atmosphere in the labour room is pretty tense but if we inform our loved ones who are present there maybe one of them can note the exact time of birth...hence, id like to know when it should be done...

The first cry of the baby from what I've gathered.
Even after the child is born, the umbilical cord remains attached to the mother. The first cry signifies the first independent breath, hence, the start of the clock.

IMHO, it is the first cry of the baby which signifies birth of a fully independent life- a whole new being.

That's interesting guys...I guess you guys mean that the first cry of the baby even if the umbilical cord is yet to be cut? Cos I suppose that it can take sometime to cut it.? in most birth, when the head comes out first, the baby starts to cry immidietly even if it's body below waist is still inside the mother?

IMO, the baby becomes a separate entity from mother when the umbilical cord is cut.
So this time shd be considered.
But this is the time when the entire medical team is concerned about the safety and health of the mother and the baby, hence a majority of TOBs are incorrect by few mins.
