Deities for Ishta, Paalana, Dharma, Kula

Post by Sreyomaya » 01 Oct 2019

Om Namo Bhagavathe Vaasudevaya

Read some posts online about ishta Devata, dharma devata, paalana devatha and kula devatha however one of my query was unresolved.

1. If AK is Rahu or any other retro planet, which house will be the jeevanmuktamsa?

If we take the house where AK (Assume Rahu who always retrograde who is in Capricorn)

Then should we take Sagittarius as 12th (12th from AK position) or Aquarius (Rahu being Retro) ?

2.Should Paalana devata be always a feminine form / Goddess? If yes who are goddess are associated with each planet?

Thanks

Kindly enlighten.

Devata represents both male and female forms of deities.

Relevant deities are found different in different books by different authors. We have 3 sets of deities-representing the planets from Parashar,Jaimini and Harihara including vedic and pre/post vedic texts.

Identifying devata is done with navamsa chart. Note the sign of AK in D9. The 12th house from that sign represents jeevan muktha deity.Either the lord or planet occupying that sign.If no planets are in that sign in D9,then the lord of that house is to be considered.

The Dharma devatta is seen from the 9 th from the karakamsa, the relationship between the tattva (element) of the karakamsa and the tattva of the dharma devatta will reveal the relationship between them. Tattva doshas cause bad sambandha and this bad sambandha is a result of a lack of akash tattva, this happens between Agni (fire) and Jala (water) as well as Prthvi (earth) and Vayu (air). These tattvas do not combine well together and can cause a negative sambandha which is experienced as bad relationships from the level of the atma.

6th from Amatya karaka in karakamsa is phalana devata. 3rd from Bhartru karaka is Guru devata. 2nd from lagna in D20 represents kula devata.

Pt.Sanjay Rath's teachings on Dharma devata goes like this:

"Parasara says that “The yogas so far stated by me with reference to the Arudha Lagna be similarly evaluated from karakamsa as well” (29.29). The results given for the AL will also apply to the karakamsa; this is interpreted to mean a planet ninth from the KK must be propitiated for the AL9 to do well, (the dharma devatta must be pleased for the dharma to fructify well in life). The 9 th from KK shows the dharma devatta and 9th house from the Arudha Lagna shows what the dharma devatta wants you to do in this life.

The number of aksharas (letters) for the correct mantra to the Dharma devatta is based on where the planet is placed from the Rasi Lagna. When a mantra is done for planets in trines or 12th to Karakamsa, the results will manifest in this world based upon (1) the atmabala (strength of the soul) and (2) the placement of those planets. It is considered auspicious to carry a symbol of the dharma devatta, for example Jupiter is karaka for mala beads (rosaries), so someone with Jupiter as dharma devatta will have more Bhagya (luck) if they carry a mala."

Nikhilji has given a clarity of the terms karakamsa and swamsa. You can refer from his blogs. There is another unanswered question-which navamsa is to be used for reading aruda padas. Krishna mishra navamsa or Parashari? As we see from the examples given in Pt.Sanjay Rath's books, Parashari navamsa is used.

Thank you sir. Couple of questions on the same topic.

Should deities be taken from Navamsa or Karakamsa?

I heard that the Karakamsa to be determined like this...

1. Find AK
2. Find the rasi where AK is positied.
3. Come to D1 & make the RASI found in step 2 as LAGNA but keep all planets as they are.

Ex: 1. AK is Rahu.
2. AK is in Capricorn in Navamsa
3. In D1, make Capricorn as Lagna (Which will be Karakamsa lagna) but keep all other planets as they are and see the chart.

IN the above example, lets say moon is AMK & in 10th house then 3 rd will be house of palana devata. But if we see from Navamsa in which moon, say in 5th house, then Palana devata would be seen from 10th house.

Which is correct?
