One of the astrologers advised me to lit a lamp of ghee, but how do I keep one wick lit for the entire week? Does anyone have any recommendations?
Re: How to light a lamp for 1 week
The answer depends on the type of lamp used. In general, use a long wick, using the, type of lamp where wick can be interchanged helps( flame needs to be transferred to the new wick). Use "desi" ghee, use only cows ghee, always pour melted ghee into the lamp- never put solid ghee. Check the lamp at least twice a day and trim the wick. Keep the lamp in a place where a breeze cannot blow it out.
Try it out with oil/ghee for a day or two so you are familiar with the lamp and the wick type before you try it out for longer. Buy a tweezer with pointed end to use as "chimtee" for handling the wick when it is burning. Get familiar with how to use this as well before setting out for the 7 day one.
Note that ghee burns at a lower temperature than oil but tends to freeze if it is not hot enough.
Hope this helps.
