Benefits of eating from a banana leaf :

Chlorophyll in banana leaves prevents skin diseases and intestinal ulcers because of the chlorophyll in the leaves.
Cleanses the blood.
Stimulates appetite and helps in the digestion of food.
Provides many benefits for the skin.
Soothes the mucous lining of the stomach and treats ulcers.
Treats kidney stones and other diseases related to bladder.
Improves the immune system.

Eating with the hands :

The tips of the five fingers comprise the elements of water, air, earth, fire and water. When you pick up the bolus of food you are about to eat, and place it on your tongues, it stimulates the sensory cells of the tongues, the food has been transformed even before ingestion by the five fingers and as a result stimulate the tongue aensory cells to secrete saliva.

This set in motion for the better than expected digestion to take place, with the stomach and pancreas secreting their respective juices.
