Can shivling installed in home

Can we install shivling in home ? What is the procedure ?

Bana linga can be installed at home. There are restrictions on other types of lingas. Since abhisheka( of at least water) needs to be done daily, it needs to be a moveable one. If you travel- it must either be taken with you or left in the care of a priest who can do abhisheka and puja daily. The length allowed is a maximum of 18 finger breadths( 18 X breadth of your finger).

Getting further advise from a local purohita would help you better if you are unfamiliar with Abhisheka and puja- they could also help you from time to time as needed.


I must add- In addition to the above it is always better to know about your family and personal conditions and advise accordingly which a local purohita would be better suited to do.
