How would one know if a gemstone has not been already consecrated?

I am planning in getting a red coral and yellow sapphire. How would I know if they had already been consecrated to another?

The best way is to get it from a reliable and trustworthy source. There are so called Vedic Gemstones being sold in the west( assuming that you are not in India) and they should in theory be more aware or careful to not sell used gems.
