shouldn't Ishta Devata be determined from 12th from the karakamsha (in rashi chart)?
Either way, I think D-20 is a better chart for delineating specific deities.
Dear Racing
Yes, you are correct. Krakamansa Lagna is Atma karaka's navamsa sign and it shd be seen in Rashi chart.
As of now, I've not found any dictums of finding Ishta devta from D-20. If you've seen any such dictum or know such details, plz share.
Regards

Whether you take 7 karaka or 8 karaka and we sometimes see many times we get Rahu as atmakarak when we use 8 scheme and other when we use 7....

Dear Consciousness
Welcome to LOVA Forum!
Plz note there is no such time as 12:08 am. Either it's 00-08 am or 12:08 pm
If it is 00-08 am plz re-confirm that the date is Oct 16, 1981 i.e. your birth is in the early hours of Oct 16th.
God bless you
Neeraj

Hello all
Sarve jano sukino bavantu
After knowing my atma karaka and from navamsa i have found out vishnu is my ishta devta my questions are
1)so does reciting ishta devta dwadashakshari mantra bring trouble because it might activate karma
2)if it brings back the karma can i go to vishnu temple or can i chant vishnu mantras
Because i feel this is not the time to bring past karma into my life as i am going through ketu dasha

Suppose someone is interested in the roles of Lord Jesus and Lord Krishna in his religious/spiritual path.

He prefers to look at the 5th house for clues about the Ishta Devata.

In the natal chart, the 5th house is in Pisces with Jupiter and the Moon present.

What's your interpretation?

Anyone know the rationale for using the 5th for clues to one's Ishta Devata?

Actually, the example was meant to be:

In the natal chart, the 5th house is in Aquarius with Jupiter and the Moon present.

Apologies, but the description is still not clear to me.

Step 1: Identify the Atmakaraka. Understood.
Step 2: Look up the house where the AK is present in the Navamsha. Here, the AK is now called Karakamsa. Understood.
Step 3: Now what? Am I to look at 12th house from Karakamsa IN THE RASHI (D1) or IN THE NAVAMSHA (D9) chart to determine the Ishta Devata?

Thanks for explaining once more!

I don't want to use that method.

I''m asking about the alternative method which uses the 5th house in the natal chart.

Claire Nakti:

"There is a school of thought in Jyotish that the Fifth House is related to one's Ishta Devata, or object of devotion in religion, the chosen deity."
