Are gochar more specific than dasa?

As far as I know, dasa gives the overall picture but gochar gives the recent set of events and exact dates?

Yes. you are 100% correct.
Transit of planets awakens various events indicated by dasa periods.
Without transit, events cannot happen or materialize.

Yes. Effect of dasha is more wide spread but transits are more specific. Even date wise events can be predicted. Effect of Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu transits are more prominent.

But, unfortunately many astrologers pay attention to MD and AD only. I don't say that they are not important, but transits also has to be seen.

Hi,

Yes, dasha and antar-dasha give the overall picture. Within a particular antar-dasha, the event may be timed using gochara.

For example, during an auspicious antar-dasha, the good effect may be manifested in the year when Jupiter transits over the antar-dasha lord's exaltation sign. A method to find the month when a good event may manifest is to find when Sun will transit the antar-dasha lord's exaltation sign.

During an inauspicious antar-dasha, the bad effects may be felt during the month when the Sun transits over the antardasha lord's debilitation or enemy's sign.
