Celestial Drama in Libra

Post by Saindhavi » 17 Sep 2012

Well, for the last few months and in the coming future, Libra has become the focus of celestial drama, as every major planet has decided to transit through Libra in its journey through the zodiac.

First, there are the Saturn and Mars.

Saturn is already exalted in Libra, but afflicted with Mars conjunction till end of September. This has caused conflicts, health problems and for those who have career problems, they feel as if they are getting the desired result but in the end they don't get it.

From 1st of Oct, Mars will join Rahu in its own house in Scorpio, leaving Saturn alone in Libra.

This will control Rahu, who has been malefic in Scorpio since May last year.

For Libra Lagna and Rashi people, this will be a good time, as Saturn will be exalted in Libra and Mars will give effect of 2nd house, besides controlling Rahu.

For other natives also in whose charts Libra falls in a good house, this will be a good time. However, for those in whose house Libra falls in a malefic house such as 8th or 12th, this may be a problematic time.

Saturn's exalted transit in Libra is not going to be a smooth ride - we were naive to think Saturn can give a smooth ride even in exaltation!

For the problems in exalted Saturn's transit, please read from this link onwards -

http://www.lightonvedicastrology.com/ph ... 50#p129397

Sun's transit through Libra and simultaneous debilitation of Libra Lord Venus in 12th from its own sign (see link above) may give trying times for most people.

Rahu-Ketu axis is due to shift now into Libra-Aries.

Rahu is a friend of Libra and also of Saturn. So, this conjunction of Saturn-Rahu will be good for Libra Lagna people and for all those in whose charts Libra falls in a good house. However, for those in whose charts Libra falls in a malefic house such as 8th or 12th, this may be a troublesome time.

In a conversation yesterday on another thread, it turned out that there is confusion about when Rahu-Ketu axis will shift houses.

Most softwares give this date in December end. Jagannath Hora gives it in early January. However, most Panchangs give the manually calculated dates in October end or early November.

(Thanks to Neelkumar and his father for providing the various Panchang dates for the nodal transit dates.)

Now, Rahu-Ketu stay in a zodiac sign for 18 months and last time they shifted axis in early May 2011, around 4th or 5th of May 2011. Counting 18 months from this, Panchang dates of early Nov should be correct for the shift of Rahu-Ketu in Libra-Aries.

If we take the software dates of Dec end or early Jan, it gives a period of about 20 months for the nodal transit, which should not be correct. It may be possible that in one software the data was entered wrongly and all other softwares copied from there.

I don't really know why this discrepancy of 2 extra months is there in the softwares.

But the story doesn't end here. Rahu has a special characteristic of becoming more malefic when crossing Sandhi or transition zone. This is a period of about 3 weeks, Rahu taking about 10-11 days to cross the Sandhi of one side of the "Conjunction line" between two signs.

Hence, whether in last 10 days in Oct to first 10 days in Nov, or in the 1st 3 weeks of Jan 2013, depending upon which date of nodal shift you follow, Rahu may cause problems especially for those running Rahu Mahadasha, Antardasha, or malefic Rahu in their charts.

After Rahu comes out of Libra Sandhi, it will become benefic/malefic according to in which house it lies in your chart.

But the first question is when the nodal axis is shifting houses.

the best way is to observe your life and see when you see a perceptive change in your life - beginning with possible problems when Rahu goes into Sandhi and then benefic effects when it come out of Sandhi.

It will help us if you observe your life and come back to report if you see a change in the last 10 days of October. Please mention your Lagna and Moon sign and where Rahu is in your chart.

Note - This thread is meant for observation and reporting. Hence, please don't bring your charts for reading and asking questions such as "How will be my Saturn/Rahu/Sun Libra transit?"

I have given above a general description of how it is likely to be for different natives.

So, please read above, compare with your lives beginning from 1st of Oct onwards and come back to say how much of it turns out to be correct, rather than asking how this transit will be.

If you want to post your charts for reading, please post them in other appropriate threads.

Wonderful post by you, Saindhavi ji. If I see some changes in my life in the period you have mentioned, I will surely mention it here in this thread.

Hi Tripura and Chavitarun,

Thanks for your appreciation!

My concern at this moment is that we are using softwares with wrongly entered data. This obviously makes the reading wrong.

If the house shift time of nodal axis is off by 2 months in the softwares, I don't know what other errors are there in the softwares.

I was always suspicious of Jagannath Hora and now I suspect it even more.

If anyone has contacts with a person involved in feeding data to these softwares, I think the dates of nodal shift should be immediately corrected, with all related information. Other data should also be checked for accuracy.

Saidhavi ji,
Most softwares give this date in December end. Jagannath Hora gives it in early January. However, most Panchangs give the manually calculated dates in October end or early November.
If you are using "Mean nodes" in JHora it will be 23rd Dec, if "True nodes" it will be 14th Jan.

Yes Lovacrs,

But the main problem is that Rahu-Ketu finish 18 months in Scorpio-Taurus in Nov beginning - they shifted there in early May 2011.

Manually calculated date in Panchangs also gives Nov beginning for shift of nodal axis into Libra-Aries.

This means software dates of Dec and Jan are wrong - they are off by 2 months, which is astronomically not possible.

Hi Saindhavi

I checked few websites. Barbara Pijan gives 6th June 2011 and 23 Dec 2012 as the respective dates.

All in all we have now period of Nov 2011 to Jan 2013, within which Rahu-Ketu shall change signs.

Hope it helps.....

Jolli,

I checked in several softwares.

Those using Geocentric settings were last year showing 4th or 5th May as the transition date - this was last year.

Panchang dates show the transit date around 4th-5th Nov 2012 - Reported by Neelkumar via his father.

This makes exact 18 years of duration in one sign, which is correct.

Now, I checked again in several softwares. It seems dates have been changed since I saw them last year.

Here are the results -

First see the softwares using the usual Geocentric settings -

17th Nov 2009 - Rahu in Sagittarius at 29-59-30 degrees - this means, Rahu has transited around this date into Sagittarius.

7th June 2011 - Rahu in Scorpio at 29-56-41 degrees - Again, this means Rahu has transited around this date into Scorpio.

Time lapse between these 2 dates - 18 months and 20 days - this exceeds the period of 18 months, but we can accept a few days extra for calculation, if it remains constant between all Rahu transits.

23rd December 2012 - Rahu in Scorpio at 0 degree - this is the date of transit again.

Time lapse from last transit - 18 months and 16 days.

Note -

1) Time lapse is not constant.

2) Last year when I had checked, transition date was on 4th-5th of May 2011. If you calculate from this date, you get the time lapse as 19 months and 19 days.

First, the date of transition has been changed and second, time lapse is neither constant nor in line with the actual duration of axis in one sign.

Now, look at the dates of transition in Jagannath Hora topocentric setting -

2nd Nov 2009 - Rahu in Capricorn at 0-06 degree - hence, this is the date of transition.

1st May 2011 - Rahu in Sagittarius at 0-12 degree - again, this is the date of transition

Time lapse between 2 dates - Exact 18 years - so this is accurate.

14th Jan 2013 - Rahu in Scorpio at 0-01 - again, this is the date of transition.

Time lapse since last transition - 20 months and 13 days!

This kind of discrepancy is astronomically not possible, as planets have a fixed path with fixed motion time.

If someone knows a person who feeds this data into softwares, please do get this corrected and also get other data checked.

All I know that's Rahu is moving on 16th October, 2012 (not 10th October - recalculated by my dad, since i requested him to spare some time on this calculation and the exact date ).
Btw, panchangs are stating the dates as somewhere in between October-November.

Neelkumar,

So, that makes it 17 months and 12 days - on 16th of Oct.

I think the Panchang that says early November is the most accurate, though your father is also quite close to the mark. He shouldn't take the mean point.

Rather, he should see which Panchang is giving a constant time lapse of around 18 years - note the emphasis is on constant, because planets have a fixed path with fixed motion time - they don' change this motion time.

If values are changing from one transit to another, it simply means calculations are not accurate.

Early November makes it 18 years.

Say thanks to your father for all his effort and also to you for asking him to do all this calculation.

I think I should go out and buy a Panchang and stop using all these softwares.

By the way, did you get married to the girl to whom Navagraha had matched your chart in Jan? I don't think I saw a marriage notice from you on LOVA.

1) I don't hate you. I am not enamoured by you either. I was only making a point the other day. Let's close that topic now.

2) Don't talk all this nonsense about meeting me etc.

3) Rahu takes 18 years. Anyway, its transit period should be constant and not change from one sign to another.

Saindhaviji, no need for the MM.
I dunno why you came up with it in the first place. Please let it go. Thanks

P.S. I was juss giving my inputs about the Rahu dates. If you don't appreciate it, simply trash it..for all I care.
P.S.2. I can't or write Bengali, juss speak..hence can't go over the Ponjika.
Moreover I won't be able to understand a Panchang even if it were in English/Hindi/Marathi/French as I ain't a technical guy or an astrologer nor a sound mathematician as you say.
Though, now I feel I should master and distill and thereby dominate this subject - astrology.

Neelkumar,

Please see above - I have thanked your father and you. Obviously, I appreciate the Panchang information you brought. This thread has emerged out of it.

Lovacrs,

Thanks for this information. I don't have a Panchang at hand.

Since you have a Panchang at hand, can you please consult it and let us know the following points -

1) What's the exact duration of Rahu's transit in Sagittarius - with entry and exit dates?

2) What's the exact duration of Rahu's transit in Scorpio - with entry and exit dates?

3) When does Rahu cross 1 degree threshold in Scorpio - degree should be between 0 and 1 (i.e., beginning of Rashi Sandhi)?

4) When does Rahu cross the 29 degrees threshold in Libra - degree should be between 28 and 29 (i.e., end of Rashi Sandhi)?

It will really help if you could tell us this.

Thanks and regards

If we are to consider the dates of 6th November, then perhaps 16th October (as I have been saying) + the 3 weeks of Sandhi (as Saindhaviji has mentioned) add upto around 1st or 2nd week of November, 2012.
Perhaps, that's how the software or calculations are done - taking a total and composite calculations.
Also, I still maintain that the Rahu-Ketu axis movement is not a fixed 18 months period, unlike other planets, infact it's less, hence 16th October, which I know is less than the 18 months by more an 1-2 days +/-.
Thanks,
Neel

Saidhavi ji,

Unfortunately I have the panchang only for current year (Lunar year approx Apl 2012 to Mar 2013). These
are the only deatils available.

Date Nk Paada
15/04/12 Anu 3
17/6/12 Anu 2
19/8/12 Anu 1
21/10/12 Vis 4
23/12/12 Vis 3 (Tula)
24/2/13 Vis 2

Unlike Ephemeris, I do not think Pnchang will give you longitudes.
They normally give Nk+Paada entry which will also reflect change in signs
If you see ephemeris.com and apply the adjustment for ayanamsha, 24 dec
appears to be correct.

Lovacrs,

Thanks for this information.

So, this explains why Neelkumar's father couldn't give the degrees of Rahu transit with dates - because Panchang shows it in terms of Nakshatra pada.

Here are the planetary positions given in http://Drikpanchang.com, an online Panchang -

6th November 2009 06:49:39

(Friday)

Rahu (Ra) 00° Cap 35' 45.59"
Ketu (Ke) 00° Can 35' 45.59" Hence, this is the date of transit.

6th June 2011 06:58:07

(Monday)

Rahu (Ra) 00° Sag 01' 11.55"
Ketu (Ke) 00° Gem 01' 11.55" Hence, this is the date of transit.

Time lapse between 2 dates - Exact 19 months !

This is the discrepancy I'm talking about - I'm sure last year before May I saw the transit date occurring on 4th or 5th of May - and on 5th of May, it would have completed 18 months. But somehow the date of transit has been changed after I saw it.

In 2012 -

23rd December 2012 06:58:24

(Sunday)

Rahu (Ra) 00° Sco 01' 32.60"
Ketu (Ke) 00° Tau 01' 32.60" Hence, this is the transit date.

Now, calculating from 6th of June 2011 above, it gives 564 days, while 6th of June itself is off by 1 month as shown above.

If we calculate from 5th of May 2011 when 18 months actually were completed, we should get a date around 5th of November 2012.

P Srinivas Raoji tells me on another thread that Rahu should shift house after 550 days, i.e. exactly 18 months, though he has calculated only from 6th of June last year, not from 2009 transit. I have asked him to read this thread -

He moves to Tula on 23-12- 2012, approximately after 18 months ( after 550 days )

Regards

P.S.Rao

There is another discrepancy in this date - From 6th of June 2011 to 23rd Dec 2012 it's actually 564 days - not 550 days, the actual priod of the nodal transit in one house!

This is easy to calculate - 6th June 2011 to 6th June 2012 = 365 days + 6th June 2012 to 23rd Dec 2012 = 199 days.

365 + 199 = 564 days, so we are in excess of the period of nodal transit by 564-550 = 14 days!

First we exceeded in 2011 by a month and now we are exceeding by 14 days in 2012.

This makes a total excess of 44-45 days!

In addition, instead of going back and checking from 2009, J-Hora topocentric setting adds extra 20 days to 23rd December, hence giving us a date in January 2013 - without realising that there has been an error in calculating 6h of June 2011 itself and they should actually check from 2009 and shift the date back to 6th of Nov, rather than adding an extra 15-20 days, which is creating a further error.

Problems -

1) If we take 6th of Nov 2009 as Sagittarius transit date of Rahu, then we have to take 5th of May as Scorpio transit date, not 6th of June as is showing in softwares.

2) If we take 5th of May 2011 as Scorpio transit date of Rahu, then we have to take 6th of Nov 2012 as Libra transit date, not 23rd of December.

Please note that the transit period has to be of 550 days, not more or less.

There can be 1-2 days' discrepancy in calculation, not more than that.

If anyone has a Panchang of 2009, which shows a different transit date of Rahu than around 6th of Nov 2009, please do give us the date.

Once again, if anyone has links with the people who feed data into these softwares, please ask them to check all data.

I may be able to provide clue from where the error crept up. The tables being used by J Hora and probably other SW is published by NASA.

"House system in JHora is replication of Swiss Ephemeris software edited by Dieter Koch, who is a tropicalist but is well versed in sidereal astrology also. Dieter Koch took ideas from wester "experts". most of whom were "historians" of science having no interest in astrology and therefore knowingly or unknowingly distorted history of astronomy / astrology. Dieter Koch had no interest in or knowledge of SSS / BPHS house system and this shortcoming of SWEPH was copied into JHORA because PVR used equal house division and provided unequal house systems only for others.

Re: Celestial Drama in Libra

Post by Saindhavi » 20 Sep 2012

I can understand if Western scholars miscalculated - but I can't understand why PVR should allow it - he being a scientist and Indian astrologer himself.

Ok, so let's do a small experiment here -

This is meant only for Libra Lagna people.

Are there some Libra Lagna people here who can tell us if they saw a downslide in their financial position, career and negative developments in family situations etc from early May 2011?

Please note -

you have to specify whether you see this negative downturn from early May .

Mention where Rahu is in your chart.

Mention Mahadasha running.

This is not a chart reading thread, so please don't bring charts for reading otherwise.

My intention here is to see if early May transit of Rahu in Scorpio i.e., in 2nd house for Libra Lagna people is effective.

Please also understand that if data is wrong in softwares, no charts can be read.

I already have a report from one Libra Lagna person on Rahu Mahadasha thread. Something similar to this would be helpful -

After reading about Rahu dates fast forward, I was wondering if Rahu (2-8 axis) is the main reason for chaos in my life, since around May-11 beginning is when this all started. Somehow I always felt Rahu was nice to me except this period.
