What's the logic behind waning Moon conjunct Mercury making them both work as benefics?

What's the logic behind waning Moon conjunct Mercury making them both work as benefics?

There is a basic one liner in Sanskrit in BPHS which conveys that when Mercury & Waning Moon are conjunct with each other makes them benefic. General dictum says waning moon is malefic but not in this exceptional case. What's the logic behind this? :mrgreen:
