Can rahu be an Atmakaraka or any Karaka?

Post by aganapa2 » 25 Dec 2018

Learned friends -

I have a doubt? Can Rahu be an Atmakaraka, being a node and not a planet? By that same measure can Ketu be one or any karaka?

In Jhora i see only Rahu being Atmakaraka but not Ketu. Why?

- AG.

Yes Rahu can be atmakaraka and other karakas as well but ketu can't be atmakaraka cos he signifies moksha and is not connected to the body or physical plane. Your atmakaraka deals with your karma how you'll approach your karma, since ketu signifies moksh it's beyond any karma.

By the way I'm just a learner so pls wait for others to respond here who are the so-called experts :)

Depending on the astrologer, or school, yes Rahu can be a Charakaraka. Those whom follow the 7 charakarakas will not use rahu, those whom use 8 will use rahu.

Jhora by default uses 8 charakarakas so rahu is included in this scheme.

Some may only use Rahu when 2, 3 or more planets obtain the same degree or minute, but this is extremely rare.
