Is exaltation of dusthana lords good or bad?some planets like mercury and jupiter become lords of two dusthana house for movable ascendants.so they are complete functional malefics so do the exaltation of these planets for these ascendants any good?
Re: Exaltation of the dusthana lords
Dusthana lords are 6th 8th and 12th. How come Jupiter and Mercury become lords of two dusthana houses for the movable ascendants?

3rd house can be considered as a minor dusthana.

Thanks for that info. So, then for libra Lagna Jupiter is functional Malefic and for Aries Lagna Mercury is functional malefic.

Re: Exaltation of the dusthana lords
Functional maleficity has a certain guideline based on BPHS. It does not mean the planets have to rule 2 dusthanas to be a functional malefic.
For example, for Cancer Ascendant Venuse rules 4th and 11th, both non-dusthanas and yet is a functional malefic. Saturn rules 7th and 8th but is functionally neutral because it is not a great natural benefic (only Venus and Jupiter qualifies as a great natural benefic), it rules the 7th and another higher house than 7th.
For a Gemini Ascendant Saturn rules 5th and 6th, and is considered functionally neutral even though it rules a trikona. Yet Jupiter which rules the 6th and 9th for a Cancer Ascendant, is considered a functional benrfic.
So there are many minor rules besides the main rules, on how to determine whether a planet is a functional malefic or a functional benefic. Example of a main rule would be that generally speaking, the 5th house or 9th house lord are functional benefics.
Back to the point when planets rule 2 dusthanas like Venus ruling 3rd and 8th for a Pisces Ascendant or Mercury for an Aires Ascendant or Jupiter for a Libra Ascendant etc., if they are debilitated in a non-dusthana, they become good just like any planet which rules ust 1 dusthana; this is standard across the board - K N Rao teaches this and is indicated by BPHS too. But I found out that ia planet rules 2 dusthanas and if they are exalted and placed in a non-dusthana, the two negatives combine so forcefully that they become positive ie. the outcome is positive.

Yes.....but should be in a non-dusthana.
If in a dusthana, we should invoke the concept of Vipareet Raja Yoga, the sign placement is less emphasised for this concept.
