Which Planet Controls Which Planet

Post by Khoo Hock Leong » 08 Apr 2017

Hi Learned Members

Besides using the concept of power numbers and natural numbers of planets which we have discussed in previous posts ie. numerology to discern which planets control which planets, the other way is to use the concept of exalted and moolatrikona signs.

The concept of using natural rulership of houses like Mars is the natural ruler of the 1st bhava, so Mars must be strong before other planets can be strong in a chart etc. going by the sequence of bhavas in the astrological chart, is only useful when considering planets' transitory effects ie. the Prashna chart where the planetary energies is in part due to its natural rulership hold of the bhavas going in sequence since transitting planets pick up their natural bhavas energy through their incessant transits round the signs. If they have transited past their natural rulership signs in a particular transit at a particular time, they would be stronger, and the other planets would be given their due energies by this planet. For example, if a Prashna Chart, Venus is in Gemini and Mars is in Taurus, we would say Venus since it has passed Taurus since being in Gemini and Mars having passed its natural rulership sign of Aires, they would have gained some quantum of strength, and hence some planetary energies emanated by them would have passed on to the other planets. Still it is only IN PART ie. this factor is not the only deciding factor in deciding the planetary strength in a Prashna chart.

So we have touched on 2 concepts pertaining to inter-dependency of planetary strengths other than the usual factors of placements and dispositorships as normally used when one practises Parasara Astrology. One was discussed previously - the one on numerology, and one touched somewhat in past posts (was from another Astrologer) based on natural rulership of signs of planets.

Now for the concept in this thread.

Sun Moolatrikona Sign is Leo and no other planet is exalted in Leo. So Sun is not dependent on other planets for its strength.

Moon Moolatrikona Sign is Taurus and is also exalted in Taurus. So Moon is not dependent on other planets for its strength.

Mercury Moolatrikona Sign is Virgo and is also exalted in Virgo. So Mercury is not dependent on other planets for its strength.

Venus Moolatrikona Sign is Libra and Saturn is exalted in Libra. So Venus is dependent on Saturn for its strength. What this means is that in a chart where Saturn is very strong, it can shore up the weakness of Venus to the point where Venus becomes strong. This point about Saturn and Venus is acknowledged by Lal Kitab.

Mars Moolatrikona Sign is Aires and Sun is exalted in Aires, So Mars is dependent on Sun for its strength. What this means is that in a chart where Sun is very strong, it can shore the weakness of Mars to the point where Mars becomes strong. This is evidenced from the fact that we require the fire energy of the Sun more than the fire energy of the Mars, although both are important to us like the Mars for cooking but Sun can do the job too like cooking in low heat for a longer period of time. But the Sun energy for the soul and tapas is what Mars is dependent on for its own spiritual evolvement.

Jupiter Moolatrikona Sign is Sagittarius and no planet is exalted in Sagittarius. So Jupiter is not dependent on other planets for its strength.

Saturn Moolarikona Sign is Aquarius and Jupiter is exalted in Aquarius. So Saturn is dependent on Jupiter for its strength. This is acknowledged in scirptures not only by the Bali story, but by the fact that Yama (where Saturn becomes the Lord of the netherworld) acts on orders of Vishnu (who also incarnated as Vamanan in the story of Bali to assign him as the leader of the netherworld).

Best Regards
Khoo
