In Jhora, dasa sequence of Nirayana shoola dasa is not properly working sometimes. For ex: One native born in Gemini Asc with strong second house (Cancer), dasa sequence should be anti clock wise starting from Cancer, Gemini, Ta, Ar, Pi, Aq..........
But it works other way, But for some other natives with gemini ascendant with strong second house works properly.

Additionally following link explains why to start from strong of 2nd house or 8th house,
Because the 2nd and 8th rasis in the natural zodiac are owned by Mars and Venus, rasi aspect on either of them by Moon generates Rudra yoga and rasis aspected by Rudra yoga planets can give death.

if 3rd house and 8th house represents longevity and hence 12th from those two houses are maraka houses (2nd and 7th), But why to start from 2nd or 8th instead of 2nd or 7th is not clear.

Generally excluding certain conditions like balarista etc, each planet is capable of giving certain ayush to native, but this dasa focuses more only on Rudra and maraka alone. And certain good yogas (panch mahpurush yogas) etc, denote purnayu and ayush of 70 year etc, Does this dasa over rule all such conditions?

Dear Shrikantji,

Thank you for your insight, agreed completely.

As per the rules mentioned to calculate dasa sequence, once starting dasa is identified stronger of 2nd and 8th, if it is a odd sign, sequence is clockwise and even sign, then it is anti-clockwise, but JHora doesn't work in accordance, is there any exceptions to this rule?

Ex: Mahatma Gandhi,
Date: October 2, 1869
Time: 7:20:00
Time Zone: 4:39:16 (East of GMT)
Place: 69 E 49' 00", 21 N 37' 00"

Rudra: Venus
2nd house Scorpio is strong,an even sign, so dasa sequence should be anti-clockwise, but sequence is sc-sg-cp
but rule exception is not mentioned anywhere. If exceptional rule is not applicable, it gives rise to further doubts about calculations of NSD in JHora, a) on what parameters software might have judged the strong house among 2nd and 8th b) How rudra planet is being identified etc.

Hello everyone,

I have a small query with respect to NSD. Whether Ketu exception rule is applicable while calculating Niryaana Shoola Dasa. i.e if Ketu is placed in the stronger house, whether the overall direction reverses as in the case of Narayana Dasa calculation. Further, KNR book has not mentioned anything about it. However, JHora software uses this option while calculating the NSD. Looking forward to your replies.

Robins longevity falls under LML category and as per your given birth in fo of him in this thread indicating his death at his 78th year.so the necessity of BTR must to justify his death by using NSD.

Can anyone reply for my above query? Whether the overall direction of the dasa reverses if Ketu sits in the starting rashi?

Had anyone tried this in JHora software. It uses ketu exception as an option. But not sure whether it was on the rule of NSD
